Sample Culinary Cover Letter

Hot Tip: When writing a cover letter for a culinary position be as specific as you can be regarding the job you're interested in. Are you focusing on short order cooking, working as a chef in a restaurant or coffee shop, using your pastry-making skill in a bakery or dishing up foods in a cafeteria? There are many to choose from in this field. Share details about your training and experience and make certain the hiring manager can pick up your enthusiasm and passion for the culinary profession. If you want to garner an interview you'll have to show yourself as someone worth meeting and talking with. You can do that in a great cover letter.

Mr. George Roll
Hiring Manager
Big Town Buffet
10 Walker Avenue
Big Town, USA 99999

Dear Mr. Roll:

I saw on the job board of JobSearchJimmy.com that you're looking for a weekend chef to coordinate and prepare a variety of dishes for Big Town Buffet. I am very interested in being considered for this part-time position.

For the past two years I've been an assistant chef at Cherry Hills Café, following my completion of certification from Big Town Culinary Arts School in December of 2010. I have thoroughly enjoyed this work and have received accolades for my professionalism and for my interesting menu, which has drawn many people to the café.

Now, however, I am eager to be the head chef—even if part-time for a while—as I prove myself capable to oversee a large professional kitchen and the staff that work there.

May I come in for an interview and even prepare a few dishes for you in order to show you what I can do? I feel certain you will not be disappointed.

If you wish to set up an appointment please call me at 777-777-7777 weekdays and evenings till 10:00 p.m.
In the meantime my resume is a good summary of my cooking experience, my creative work in the kitchen, and testimonies from satisfied employees and patrons.

Thank you very much for considering me for the opening at Big Town Buffet and for reading my cover letter and resume.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Arliss Job Seeker
